You begin today’s tour early, after breakfast at the hotel and head off to explore the ancient Khmer capital city of Angkor Thom. You will walk along the ramparts from the South Gate to see Prasat Chrung and stop at the Death Gate for some fruit and snacks before continuing to the main temple of Bayon. You will also visit several small temples nearby, such as Baphuon, the Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King. Next on the agenda is a visit to the well-known jungle temple of Ta Prohm, for centuries overgrown by balsa wood trees and vines. This temple reeks of mystery and was also used in the movie Tomb Raider.

This afternoon:
You will spend the afternoon visiting Banteay Srei temple, also known as the ‘Women’s Temple’. It was associated with the training of female soldiers to fight against the enemies of the Khmer empire and is fairly unique in that it is constructed of beautiful pink sandstone and decorated with intricate stone carvings. On the return journey, you’ll visit the impressive Cambodia Landmine Museum, which has collected thousands of landmines since the days of the war. If time permits, you will explore the ruin of Preah Khan sitting right in the middle of the jungle.

Tonight:
You will enjoy a dinner accompanied by a Khmer traditional Apsara dance performance depicting the unique Khmer culture.
