How to get to Mai Chau from Hanoi?

Mai Chau is about 140km from Hanoi City. Hoa Binh is about 60km to the Northwest. To get to Hoa Binh province, you can choose the option of traveling by motorbike, or taking a bus.

From Hanoi to Mai Chau you can follow 2 routes:

– Route 1:

Center of Hanoi – Nguyen Trai – Ba La (Ha Dong) – Xuan Mai – NH6 – Pass Thung Khe – Nga Ba Tong Dau – Mai Chau

– Route 2:

Center of Hanoi – Tran Duy Hung – Thang Long Boulevard – Xuan Mai – NH6 – Pass Thung Khe – Nga Ba Tong Dau – Mai Chau

From Hanoi, tourists can take a bus at My Dinh and Giap Bat bus stations (with the ticket price of 100,000 – 120,000). Go along to the Toong Dau intersection. Then take a motorbike to the town about 5km away.

In Mai Chau Town:

Mai Chau town is quite small, so you can rent a bicycle to walk around the villages. It is not necessary to use a motorbike.  At most stilt houses in Lac village, there is a bicycle rental service.
